|Using the Links Tool and the Files Tools|
The Tool for Links is the simplest way to create a link. Click on the Create Link in red lettering, put in the URL, give the link a Title and Description if desired. When linking to an external website, it is recommended to check "Open in New Window." For more detailed instructions, click here.

The Files Tool allows for uploading files which can then be opened and downloaded or printed by users of your classroom page. Several file types can be used including Word Documents, Excel files, PDF files, JPEG files, Powerpoint files, WMV files, and other types.
If you will use a large number of files, it may be convenient to use the option to create folders first and then upload the files into an organized system of folders. It is also possible to upload multiple files at once. More detailed instructions on adding files are available in this PDF starting on page 10.
Keep in mind that using the latest version of a Word file can be problematic for users who have older versions of the software, and for that reason, it is wise to save and use files as PDFs if possible. An alternative is to save a Word file as an older version so that it will be compatible with older software (A file saved as an old version still opens with new software, but a new version will not open properly with old software.)
